தமிழில் உடன்பிறந்தாரை வயதின்படி பிரிக்கிறோம். ஆண்: மூத்தவன் “அண்ணா”, இளையவன் “தம்பி”. பெண்: மூத்தவள் “அக்கா”, இளையவள் “தங்கை”.

Tamil splits siblings by age, not just sex. Brothers: அண்ணா (elder) vs தம்பி (younger). Sisters: அக்கா (elder) vs தங்கை (younger). There is no single word for just “brother” or “sister.”

பெற்றோர்: “அம்மா” (தாய்), “அப்பா” (தந்தை). “என் அம்மா”, “உன் அப்பா” என்று உடைமைச் சொல்லைச் சேர்க்கலாம்.

Parents are அம்மா (mother) and அப்பா (father). Add a possessive in front: என் அம்மா (my mother), உன் அப்பா (your father), அவன் தம்பி (his younger brother).
