விளக்கம் · Explanation

வீட்டின் பகுதிகள்: அறை, சமையலறை, படுக்கையறை, மண்டபம் (ஹால்), குளியலறை. இடத்தைச் சொல்ல “-இல்” சேர்க்கிறோம்: அறை → அறையில், வீடு → வீட்டில்.

Parts of a house: அறை room, சமையலறை kitchen, படுக்கையறை bedroom, குளியலறை bathroom. To say “in” a place, add the locative -இல்: அறை → அறையில், and note the oblique stem வீடு → வீட்டில்.

“வீட்டில் மூன்று அறைகள் இருக்கின்றன” — அஃறிணை பல பொருளுக்கு வினை “-இருக்கின்றன”. ஒரு பொருளுக்கு “இருக்கிறது”.

For many things, the verb takes the irrational-plural ending: மூன்று அறைகள் இருக்கின்றன (“there are three rooms”). For one thing it is இருக்கிறது (ஒரு கதவு இருக்கிறது).
