ஒரு செயலை எந்தக் கருவியால் செய்கிறோம் என்று காட்ட “ஆல்” சேர்க்கிறோம் — இது மூன்றாம் வேற்றுமை. கை → கையால், கத்தி → கத்தியால்.

To show the instrument or means of an action — what you do it with — add -āl. This is வேற்றுமை 3. கை → கையால் (by hand), கத்தி → கத்தியால் (with a knife). It answers “with what?” (எதனால்?).

உயிர் ஈற்றில் உடம்படுமெய்: பேனா + ஆல் → பேனாவால் (வகரம்), கதி + ஆல் → கதியால் (யகரம்). ஒடிசல் வடிவம்: மரம் → மரத்தால், கல் → கல்லால்.
