விளக்கம் · Explanation

இறந்தகால வினையெச்சம் (செய்து, போய், சாப்பிட்டு) + இருக்கிறேன் = செய்திருக்கிறேன், போயிருக்கிறேன், சாப்பிட்டிருக்கிறேன். இது “இப்போது வரை முடிந்த” செயலைக் காட்டும்.

Take the past verbal participle (செய்து ‘having done’, போய் ‘having gone’, சாப்பிட்டு ‘having eaten’) and add இருக்கிறேன். You get செய்திருக்கிறேன் (I have done), போயிருக்கிறேன் (I have gone). It marks an action completed but still relevant now.

இடம் மாறினால் இருக்கிறேன் மட்டும் மாறும்: செய்திருக்கிறாய், செய்திருக்கிறான், செய்திருக்கிறாள், செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். “ஏற்கனவே”, “முன்பு” போன்ற சொற்களுடன் பொருந்தும்.
