உவமை உருபு மறைந்து நிற்பது உவமைத்தொகை.
When the word of comparison hides, the compound is a simile-compound.

“மலர் போன்ற கண்”, “தேன் போன்ற மொழி” என்று உவமையோடு வருணித்திருக்கிறீர்கள். அந்த “போன்ற” என்னும் உவமை உருபு மறைந்து நிற்பது உவமைத்தொகை: மலர்க்கண், தேன்மொழி.
You have painted pictures with similes — மலர் போன்ற கண் (eyes like a flower), தேன் போன்ற மொழி (honey-like words). When the comparison word போன்ற slips away, you are left with a உவமைத்தொகை: மலர்க்கண், தேன்மொழி.
விதிகள் · The rules
ஒன்றை மற்றொன்றுக்கு ஒப்பிடும் உருபு (போல், போன்ற, ஒத்த, அன்ன) மறைந்து, உவமமும் உவமேயமும் சேர்ந்து நிற்பது உவமைத்தொகை. உவமம் = ஒப்பிடப்படும் பொருள்; உவமேயம் = ஒப்பிட்டுச் சொல்லப்படும் பொருள்.
When the comparison marker (போல், போன்ற, ஒத்த, அன்ன) vanishes and the standard fuses with the thing compared, you get a உவமைத்தொகை. The standard is the உவமம்; the thing it describes is the உவமேயம்.
“மலர்க்கண்”ணில் “மலர்” உவமம் (ஒப்பு), “கண்” உவமேயம் (ஒப்பிடப்படுவது). “தேன்மொழி”யில் தேன் உவமம், மொழி உவமேயம். விரித்தால் “மலர் போன்ற கண்”, “தேன் போன்ற மொழி”.
Usually the front member is the standard and the rear is the thing described: in மலர்க்கண், மலர் (flower) is the standard and கண் (eye) the thing; in தேன்மொழி, honey is the standard, speech the thing. Expanded: மலர் போன்ற கண், தேன் போன்ற மொழி.
